Washington, D.C. – March 12, 2004 – Prestwick Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a CNS specialty pharmaceutical company, announced today the appointment of Melvin D. Booth to the company’s Board of Directors. Mr. Booth has more than 25 years of senior managerial experience in healthcare and the life sciences, most recently as President and Chief Operating Officer of MedImmune, Inc.

“We are very excited to have Mel join our board,” said Ed Engleman MD, Chairman of the Board of Directors. “Mel brings a wealth of operating experience to Prestwick at an exciting time as we expand our development programs and begin to build commercial infrastructure.”

Previously, Mr. Booth served as President and COO and a director for Human Genome Sciences, Inc. (HGS), where he played a key role in the successful completion of two public offerings. At HGS, Mr. Booth also participated in the negotiation and completion of major strategic alliances with a number of the company’s large pharmaceutical partners. Prior to this, Mr. Booth held senior management positions at Syntex Corporation, including his role as President of Syntex Laboratories.

Mr. Booth also serves on the boards of Nova Screen BioSciences Corporation and Focus Technologies, Inc. Mr. Booth graduated with honors and holds an honorary Doctor of Science degree from Northwest Missouri State University. He holds a Certified Public Accountant Certificate.
